We always need people to help us open letters, match up book requests, and package books. Just show up at one of our volunteer worknights! If your group wants to table some of our literature at events, we'd be happy to get stuff to you. Books To Oregon Prisoners (BTOP) meets at 6315 NE Rodney Ave, every Tuesday from 5PM-8PM. BTOP is always in need of shipping funds and packaging supplies, mainly brown shipping paper and clear packaging tape. (Donations to this group can be made tax-deductible if needed.) BTOP also needs help soliciting new books from publishers (especially dictionaries) and writing grant proposals. Portland Books To Prisoners (pdxbtp) has moved twice last year, and in Feb 2007, has again been moved to a more permanent location in Northeast. The new address is 1112 NE Morton, which is on the #75 or #8 buslines near Dekum and 13th. From Dekum go south(ish) on either Durham, Bellevue, or 13th to Morton. From Ainsworth go north on 13th to Morton and go left onto Morton. The space is in the garage at the end of the driveway. The worknights remain 5-8pm on Monday and Wednesday. pdxbtp also needs help with other things, including copying, setting up & flyering & tabling for benefits, picking up book donations at drop boxes, sorting through huge boxes of book donations the last monday of each month 11am-3pm, and any other imaginative forms of outreach and fundraising you can dream up! (Donations to this group can be made tax-deductible if needed, or using the paypal button on the front page or donations page) For more information on any of these projects, email us at pdxbookstoprisoners@riseup.net or bookstooregonprisoners@gmail.com |
